Travel tips from Myles
Vacations, hotels and destinations I can recommend:
Lake Tahoe's north shore: The Shorehouse Hotel at Lake Tahoe. We stayed in the honeymoon cottage. Delightful room right down by the waterfront. Look out onto the sunsets and the huge clear blue lake. Snow on the mountains. Custom breakfasts are complimentary with fruit, coffee and juice. Wine and cheese in the afternoons. Guidance on where to go from Marty, the innkeeper. Go kayaking on the lake and visit Emerald Bay with its startling beauty of the rocks and expansive views of the lake and the trees. Walk in the quiet pine forests. Go waterskiing on the lake. Enjoy paradise for a while.
The W Hotel San Diego: Trendy and chic. Cool music in the lounge. The sand bars on the roof and swimming pool. Rooms are mod design and very colorful. Enjoy the moderate San Diego weather and Jim Croce's restaurant with music and great food.
The Sheraton Marina Hotel San Diego: right on the waterfront. Great views with a view across the bay. There is a nice cheap Greek restaurant right between the two towers there where you can get a really tasty breakfast at about a quarter of the Sheraton price. Hotel is beautiful though.
The Westin hotel, Rancho Mirage: We have a villa here. Love the peace and quiet. The room is serene and the Heavenly Beds are heavenly. Enjoy golf at two courses on the property. There are fine Mexican restaurants on Palm Springs main drag and don't miss Le Vallaurisse (French restaurant at the bottom of the San Jacinto mountains). Take a trip to Two Bunch Palms Resort and spa in Desert Hot Springs and enjoy the 90 degree mineral waters, massage at the spa and excellent dining at the Casino Restaurant. The pools are warm and fine places to relax in.
