What has the general contractor built recently? Go take a look at it! Ask for references and call those people up. Compare pricing. Get a contract signed with the price on it and get a fixed price, not one that goes up every month!

If the general contractor has a license you can check his record at the state licensing board.

Finding a competent, reliable and honest general contractor is the key to completing your home projects on time and to a high professional standard.
