Mercury Insurance came through for me this year when I insured my 1991 Acura Legend. They cut my rate in half from the AAA rate- for the same coverage.

My wife Debby is an auto claims adjuster and she gets car insurance from 21st Century for her car and my stepson. She is a very smart buyer so that probably makes a lot of sense for her RAV 4 and Mark's used Honda.

I find car insurance ads interesting. Geico has a gecko. For the amount of money he makes for Geico, I think he's one of the most underpaid geckos in the world. But the English guy who does his voiceover probably does really well. But that gecko makes us like Geico, whatever their rate is.

Allstate has more serious ads. I liked the one that talks about watching for police cars and slowing down when they are spotted. I think a lot of people do this. Speeding on California freeways is an institution in itself. No wonder the auto insurance companies have so much business here.

Some sites give you a bunch of car insurance quotes so you can compare rates. It makes sense to comparison shop for this service.
